Komorebi (2021)

Light, like other natural phenomena, manifests itself in ways that surpass our perceptual limits. Everyday reality, which we find immutable and which, through habituation, loses interest over time, is permeated by dynamic energies and forces, whose forms and movements are inaccessible to us. We recognize, for example, that the sun illuminates and allows us to see our surroundings clearly. However, we do not recognize that its light has a material existence and that it occupies a place in space like any tangible object.

Thus, this installation has the purpose of witnessing, both literally and metaphorically, the sun's rays passing through the leaves and branches of an existing tree, until they reach the ground; a phenomenon that in Japan they call Komorebi. From this, it is not only intended to frame and make visible a physical phenomenon, but to open a space that allows a contemplative aesthetic experience, a space of contemplation, of astonishment and amazement before nature; an intimate temple, where it is possible to immerse oneself before the manifestation of fundamental forces that have accompanied us since the beginning of life.
