Numinous (2021)
Numinous is an immersive installation where light, fog and sound converge to generate a contemplative, immaterial and ethereal space; a space that subtly seeks to lead the guest to evidence the material and volumetric nature of light, while at the same time allowing for a meditative sensory experience.
Through the fog, light rays take over the space and shape three-dimensional geometries: volumes of light that, although physically present and appearing solid, are intangible. In parallel, the sound composition that accompanies the immaterial experience of light aims to induce a state of introspection and reverie, resorting to the use of binaural pulses, sine waves and drones.
In Numinous, light rays are manifested through technological devices, molding three-dimensional light geometries that impose their presence in an architectural manner. In this way, an environment governed by abstract geometric forms is configured; forms that in turn have been recurrently used as symbols of spirituality in different cultures and throughout time.
More than a visual illusion, the installation proposes a space where the visitor can perceive light in a way that usually escapes his senses, as an object that has mass and occupies a place. As a sensory experience, it proposes a bidirectional relationship mediated by the body. Thus, instead of seeking a passive position of the guest in front of the work, Numinous encourages him to penetrate, walk through, feel, touch and play, understanding these actions as essential means for discovery and understanding.
